The little island of Lokrum, 15 minutes away from Dubrovnik, makes an excellent picnic spot to get away from loads of tourists who crowd the town during peak summer months. If you are a Game of Thrones fan, you will know that this is where King’s Landing was shot. Dubrovnik will possibly be the highlight of your Croatian vacation.

Split

And while you are in Split, do make time to visit the Marjan Hill and explore the numerous churches that dot the area.

Hvar

If you want to the party animal in you to come to life, head to Hvar and make it your home. This is the sunniest island in Croatia and is pulsating with life during the summer months. The island sure does offer stiff competition to Mykonos and Ibiza! If you want some quiet time, head to the hills in Hvar and watch the lavender blooms sway gently in the breeze. Alternately, rent your own boat and find a little cove at the neighbouring Pakleni Islands to make a perfect ‘beach day’.

Zadar

Zadar
For those who want peace of mind, stunning sunsets and beautiful beaches, Zadar is the place. The town has one of the two wave organs in the world that plays music, which will echo in your ears for years to come. Zadar is an ideal base to explore surrounding towns and attractions including Plitvice National Park, which has some of the most beautiful waterfalls on the planet.

Zagreb

Zagreb
The capital of Croatia is a lively city that will let you experience Europe without drilling a hole in your pocket. Affordable and friendly, this city has plenty of quirky places to keep you occupied for a few days; tere is the ‘Museum of Broken Relationships’ and ‘Solar System’ with planets all around the city – a mystery for you to solve.
