All set to take off on your dream holiday to Europe? How exciting! Now comes the stress of packing. A challenge for even the most seasoned traveler, it’s quite a task to figure out what note to take! The ifs and maybes of potentially needing everything almost always lead to over packing. To make things easier for you, here’s a list of what to pack for a summer trip to Europe. You’re welcome!
Irrespective of whether you are holidaying in South of France or in Spain be prepared to be out in the sun for most of the day. This means you need protection from harmful UV rays that we often ignore. Essentials to pack include sunglasses with UV reflective lenses, sunscreen with an SPF of 35 and higher and a sun hat or scarf for your head.
When on your summer trip in Europe, it is sensible to be prepared for the sun and rain as some parts see scattered summer showers. Along with clothing that is breathable, ideally cotton; include some t-shirts and long sleeved shirts. Linen pants are a great addition for their versatility and of course, shorts and skirts are a must. Don’t forget raingear by way of a light waterproof parka with a hood.
Wearing the right shoes is extremely important whether on holiday or not. A European holiday involves a fair amount of walking so make sure you pack a pair of comfortable shoes with good traction. Flip flops are great for the beach but don’t offer any support, which can lead to aching ankles and soles.
Toiletries & Such
Avoid the weight and bulk of carrying full size toiletries by opting for smaller or travel size packaging. Pack the basics including soap, toothpaste, lotion and shampoo. Other personal items like cosmetics, perfumes and medications should be packed based on your actual need versus your anticipated need. Remember, you’ll probably just be gone for a week or two so resist the temptation to pack your entire bathroom!
Probably the most vital things to pack for a summer trip in Europe, leave enough space in your bag for your favorite electronics. Smartphone with GPS. Check. Tablet. Check. Headphones. Check. Flash drive. Check. Chargers and adapters. Check.
This & That
The list of what you should and could pack can be an endless one! A few extras worth taking along are a flashlight, insect repellent, a refillable water bottle, mini first-aid kit and a small backpack or tote.
